Hugh Jackman Announce New Theatre Company 'TOGETHER'
By Elysia Lior, 31 Mar 2025
On March 31, 2025, Tony and Golden Globe-winning actor Hugh Jackman, in partnership with esteemed British theatre producer Sonia Friedman, unveiled their new theatre company, TOGETHER. This initiative aims to create live theatre that is both intimate and accessible, emphasizing stripped-back storytelling and collaborative experimentation. Joining them is Ian Rickson, the Artistic Director of the Royal Court Theatre, who will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's artistic direction.
In their joint statement, Jackman and Friedman expressed a desire to establish a space where actors, writers, and directors can "experiment, explore and take risks, away from the pressures that are often associated with the commercial theatre world." They highlighted the importance of returning to the "simple, thrilling essence of live performance" and fostering an environment that coexists alongside major theatrical hubs like Broadway and the West End. The company plans to stage productions in the UK, the US, and other international locations, embracing flexible performance schedules and repertory formats to allow productions and ideas to evolve organically.
This collaboration reunites the trio after their successful 2014 production of "The River," which starred Jackman, was directed by Rickson, and produced by Friedman. Further announcements regarding TOGETHER's inaugural productions and initiatives are anticipated in the coming months.
