Camden Arts Projects Debuts with Martin Creed's Immersive Installation
By Elysia Lior, 26 Apr 2025
Camden Arts Projects, a new not-for-profit space dedicated to contemporary art and film, is set to open on 9 May at 176 Prince of Wales Road, Camden. The inaugural exhibition features Turner Prize-winning artist Martin Creed's interactive installation, Work No. 3891 Half the air in a given space (2025), where visitors navigate a room filled halfway with balloons, transforming the gallery into a sensory experience.
The exhibition also includes Creed's neon text piece, Work No. 1086: EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT (2011), displayed on the building's neoclassical façade, offering a message of reassurance.
Curated by Hala Matar, the show marks the first time Creed's balloon installation returns to London since its 2014 debut at the Hayward Gallery. The venue, formerly the Zabludowicz Collection, has a rich history, having served as a place of worship and later as the London Drama Centre.
Adding to the experience, London-based bakery Little Bread Pedlar will operate on-site, with artisanal pastries containing hidden ceramic fèves by artist Charlotte Colbert, nodding to the French tradition of concealed charms.
Camden Arts Projects aims to be a dynamic cultural hub, blending history, humour, and experimentation in the heart of London's art scene.
